Mr. Lambert, Secretary of the London Metal
Exchange, enquired by telephone what had been the
result of Mr. Branson's enquiries. I said that he
had sent us a Report but that in accordance with the
understanding recorded in my letter of the 22nd of
July we had assumed that Messrs. Griffiths would at
the same time report to the London Metal Exchange
عمر
and had therefore not sent a copy of Mr. Branson's
Report. Mr. Lambert later telephoned again to say
that he had spoken to Messrs. Griffiths and that there
appeared to be some misunderstanding as they had
assumed that a copy of Mr. Branson's Report would be
sent to the London Metal Exchange. They had themselves
copies of some notes of Mr. Branson's, but were not
sure that these were identical with his final Report.
They are going to supply copies of these notes to the London Metal Exchange, but I agreed th
that it would
be desirable that we should send the Metal Exchange
a copy of the Report so as to make quite sure that
they had the full story. We were rather reluctant
to send the Report in the first instance, but now
that they have definitely asked for it I think we can
hardly refuse. I gather that the question has again
become active owing to a new complaint of discrepancy.
Draft herewith.
